Long story. I need to break out UTF8 checking from Protobuf and gRPC
sources. This is mostly done, but not yet finished / uploaded.
Both Protobuf and gRPC need an up-to-date Abseil, I don't think the
current one in Sid would do. At least my pre-check showed problems.
I'm going to re-check everything and do my best. I will report back my
findings here.
The long-awaited Abseil transition is now in process (#1081553), causing
an abseil FTBFS. I'll look into that more in a moment, and probably file
a separtae bug. If the new gprc release is expected to help here, now
could be the time for it.
