Sorry for the late reply..I've been busy with non-computer stuff.

Package: linux-image

This kernel in my Trixie installation locks up the computer soon after
boot. It has happened in Firefox, Thunderbird and even in a text editor
as I was writing up a bug report.

Does the problem still happens with the current version available
6.12.15-1 in unstable?
I just reinstalled 6.12.12 and installed 6.12.15-1. Both suffer the same
total lockups as 6.12.12 did last fall. I have reverted to the previousa
version.
Thanks for confirming that.
We need to get some information on the crash. You say the machin does
not react at all, is stil something written in the system log? If not
might you be able to configure a netconsole[1] to get backtrace
remotely maybe before the system is stuck?
Absolutely nothing written in any log.
I had a look at netconsole, but this is far above my pay grade ! I
have no idea where to start with this.
The system is neither accessible via SSH remotely?
I have never tried accessing this computer from elsewhere as there is
no other computer I have access to.
I find it very strange that the "new" 6.12 series runs perfectly fine on
my OpenSuse Tumbleweed but crashes with a tight lockup on Debian Trixie?
The only difference is that grub is installed on the Tumbleweed
partition not on Trixie. I was forced to do this when I discovered
the Debian mkconfig utility would not install Tumbleweed kernel in
grub.cfg properly. Perhaps because I am running BTRFS on Tumbleweed ?

Salvatore
