Have you tried /usr/bin/update-pciids from the pciutils packages? :) You could setup a cronjob to run that. > That would help enhance hw-detection on new hw. I don't know how much hw-detection is done with pci.ids, it's mostly so that humans can have reasonable strings to look at. The drivers in the Linux kernel all have their own lists of PCI ids that they support. I don't know what kudzu/etc do, but I didn't think their ability to support hardware was based on how up to date their pci.ids was. Anyway we'll try to keep it as up to date as possible.
