libsodium 1.0.20 has been released in May 2024. It has many bug fixes, more architectural support and nice performance improvements on top of current debian version 1.0.18. Please consider packaging it and finishing the transition before trixie freeze. I took a quick look at the API changes and they seem trivial, so the transition would (hopefully) be somewhat smooth. I see your work 1.0.19-1 in experimental, and I think that is a good starting point.
