You definitely should be proud of your work in Debian. (I only superficially understand what you do). But I understand you went above and beyond what is usually expected by creating a pull request on the upstream FFF repository.

I think it's ok to have the Recommends: for Trixie, but it should later be removed again. I'll check CountPages too. I wish this could be automated somehow
Yes, I understand it is not nice to have to manually track something that is not really "trackable", so to speak.
