Hi Ian,

* Ian Jackson <ijack...@chiark.greenend.org.uk> [2025-01-29 12:32]:
Steps to reproduce.

 With some kind of image tarball bookworm.tar

   $ autopkgtest-virt-unshare -t bookworm.tar
   ok
   open
   ok /tmp/autopkgtest.HYR0W4
   close
   ok
   open

Expected results:

   ok

Actual results:

   <VirtSubproc>: failure: ['unshare', '--map-auto', '--map-root-user', 'sh',
'-c', '\n    tar --exclude=./dev --directory /tmp/tmp9aolspv5 --extract --file
bookworm.tar\n    /usr/sbin/useradd --create-home --no-log-init --prefix
/tmp/tmp9aolspv5 unshare\n    '] failed (exit status 1, stderr 'tar:
/tmp/tmp9aolspv5: Cannot open: No such file or directory\ntar: Error is not
recoverable: exiting now\nuseradd: /tmp/tmp9aolspv5//etc/passwd.22272: No such file
or directory\nuseradd: cannot lock /tmp/tmp9aolspv5//etc/passwd; try again later.\n')

Thanks for pointing out! I have opened a MR to fix this:

Note that you could also use a `revert` command as the behaviour is the same.

Cheers Jochen
