Subject: sa-exim: permission problems prevent some logging
Package: sa-exim
Version: 4.2-1
Severity: normal

sa-exim is having permission problems that prevent it from writing to
areas under /var/spool/sa-exim. I just noticed this, but it has been going
on for at least as far back as my exim logs go (Feb 19).

I am not exactly sure what uid the sa-exim process is running under;
my guess is that something has changed. However, I couldn't find any
clues about this under /usr/share/doc/sa-exim/.

Since it appears to be doing the primary delivery, and it's likely spam anyway,
I don't think this problem is too serious.

Perhaps this is an issue with the upgrade script not resetting permissions on
existing installations?

My permissions are
iron:/var/spool# ls -ld sa-exim/
drwxrwx--- 4 mail mail 104 Apr 1 2004 sa-exim/
iron:/var/spool# ls -l sa-exim/
total 1
drwxrwx--- 5 mail mail 120 Nov 26 2003 SAerrorsave
drwxr-x--- 2 nobody Debian-exim 48 Apr 1 2004 tuplets

and here is a representative excerpt from my exim logs:
