I tried it on 3 different machines.
All should "default" to "stable".
None had "ninjahelper".

But
"aptitude show backupninja"
is generating the output 0.9.3 i sent to the list...

I don't have a command "rmadison"
the bestfitting would be "madison-lite" which generates
colinux:~# madison-lite backupninja
/usr/bin/madison-lite: can't open mirror directory './dists'

Already done.
"A waiting moderation" since 4 days... ;-) (or ":-(..." ?)

Meanwhile i found one reason:
It failed because it uses "automake" but it is not checking
if "automake" really available (and it wasn't).
So the "Makafile.am" are not transfered to "Makefile.in"

ACK.

I did -meanwhile- an

#aptitude -t testing install bacupninja

and there i got the ninjahelper!

colinux:~# aptitude show backupninja
Package: backupninja
State: installed
Automatically installed: no
Version: 0.9.3-6

Maintainer: Micah Anderson <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
Uncompressed Size: 406k

same answer as in last mail with 0.5 installed as we know now.

but:
colinux:~# dpkg -L backupninja | grep bin
/usr/bin
/usr/sbin
/usr/sbin/backupninja
/usr/sbin/ninjahelper

colinux:~# grep backupninja /var/log/aptitude
[INSTALL] backupninja
[UPGRADE] backupninja 0.5-3sarge1 -> 0.9.3-6

Funny...

So i don't understand why
aptitude show
displays a version 0.9.3!

If that would had been "0.5-3" i would not have asked!

Ok.
Let's staart from scratch:
aptitude remove backupninja
aptitude purge backupninja

aptitude install backupninja
Unpacking backupninja (from .../backupninja_0.5-3sarge1_all.deb)

Ah!

Argl...
"aptitude show "

still shows 0.9.3! and NOT the installed 0.5.

" show - Display detailed information about a package"

Hm...i assume "installed package", or "default package"

colinux:~# aptitude -t stable show backupninja
Package: backupninja

colinux:~# aptitude -t sarge show backupninja

colinux:~# aptitude -t woody show backupninja
Package: backupninja

colinux:~# aptitude -t rainer show backupninja
Package: backupninja

Automatically installed: no
Version: 0.9.3-6

colinux:~# cat /etc/apt/apt.conf | grep -v "^//"
APT::Architecture "i386";
APT::Default-Release "stable";
APT::Cache-Limit 16777216;

Would someone please be so kind and redirect this bugreport to the
aptitude team and mark this for backupninja done?

New Subject: aptitude show ignors version info

TIA.
