I'm still unsure if installation of lmodern is a solution or a
workaround. lualatex does a fallback to Computer modern:
LaTeX Font Warning: Font shape `OT1/lmr/m/n' undefined
(Font) using `OT1/cmr/m/n' instead on input line 54.
and this worked with trixie with XeLaTeX too. So I guess a
regression between testing and unstable.
Currently I'm discussing this topic in dctt.
