Hi Rafael,

I see a discussion of the update last month here:
https://lists.debian.org/debian-l10n-portuguese/2024/12/msg00000.html
which is good! (Even if am I am as usual not understanding a single
word)

:-)

I do note through that this is your first contribution to the apt
translation which non the less states:
| # Rafael Fontenelle <rafae...@gnome.org>, 2022-2025.

It seems like the thread mentions why, but auto-translation only goes so
far, so I wonder a bit what happened in those years and if there is
anything we could have done better?

The translation of apt started in 2022.

https://lists.debian.org/debian-l10n-portuguese/2022/07/msg00011.html

Probably poedit started to set the header of the po file in 2022 and finished in 2025.
But I beleive It's better Rafael edit the file and leave only 2025.

As last translator "Felipe Augusto van de Wiel (faw)" is recorded … from
2008. That is an awful lot of time, but did you (or the team that is
CC'ed) were in contact about an update at any point? CC'ed him, too,
just in case he wants to comment (and I don't want to talk about others
behind their back).

Felipe hasn't contributed to translation for while now, so I wouldn't like to bored him with that.

For better or worse, we have a sort-of strong ownership of translations
similar to packages, so ideally I would like to hear some (n)ack OR
on the other extreme some proof of MIA from the last translator. [0]

On the last years, the team have updated a lot of files, specially debconf templates, and usually Adriano and I are opening the bugs to the packages, and replacing the missed translators.

In 2021 we set as a goal update some important files such as dpkg and apt, and now we are finally doing that :-)

https://lists.debian.org/debian-l10n-portuguese/2021/08/threads.html

(Having it discussed on the l10n team mailing list gives me some peace of
mind, so if nobody screams "NO" for a few days I am going to import the
update given the age and all, but I wanted to ask for 'paper trail'
and more general MIA concerns anyhow)

Sure, no problem.

I would like to ask you to accept the file sent by Rafael.

Best regards,
