Are you still able to reproduce this? I've never seen this myself, and my guess would be that this was caused by a transient error caused by "something else" happening on the machine you used to build.
It was not transient (I got three failures in a row on 20250102), and it was not only in my machine: https://tests.reproducible-builds.org/debian/rbuild/unstable/arm64/mat2_0.13.4-2.1.rbuild.log.gz
I intent to close this -- unless you believe that there is indeed a problem in regards to the mat2 source code.
I believe there was indeed a problem. If you think some build-dependency was to blame for this, we could use debbisect to know which one. Thanks.
