Hello Thomas,Your bug report got a bit lost, but now it is reported against the tool that generates the live images.
To reproduce, I've used a 12.8 XFCE live image instead of the older 12.5 image.
My steps: * Boot from the first GRUB menu entry using UEFI secure boot * From the desktop, start 'Install Debian' (i.e. Calamares) * Select 'Berlin' on the 'Location' tab* Don't change 'The system language' (default=American English, United States)
* Select 'German' on the 'Keyboard' tab * Enter 'de-de' for the usernameHere I noticed that the key to the right of the zero produces ß (as on a German keyboard, and I needed to press the key to the right of . to get the minus symbol
Calamares manipulates the global keyboard setting, in the system bar at the top it still shows 'EN', but opening 'Terminal Emulator' shows that the German keyboard layout has been activated.
After the reboot, the value for the environment variable 'LANG' was 'en_US.UTF-8' and the 'LC_*' values were 'de_DE.UTF-8' (This was all perfectly matching the entries that were made in Calamares).
Since you have used a minus for the username, whose location on the keyboard depends on the active keyboard layout, could you try to reproduce this again?
With kind regards, Roland Clobus
