Hello, Sorry for the misunderstanding. The original decision to deal with incompatibility between mariadb-server and mysql-server was to keep mysql-8.0 in unstable only. Since #853008 does still affect unstable users though, I agree it is best to actually fix it. I have created a pull request for the pre-inst and post-rm files to avoid deleting any MariaDB files here - https://salsa.debian.org/mariadb-team/mysql/-/merge_requests/75 I will get feedback on it then merge it as soon as possible.
