I'm still investigating the extent of the breakage some of these
proposed changes will cause. In particular to tables, and this also
affects various md2other exporters as well as groff. There are also
considerations of supporting the efforts of the new Markdown.pl
maintainer, resisting making Microsoft Github's flavour a defacto
replacement, etc. To the best of my knowledge none of the alternatives
to Markdown.pl have a comprehensive compatibility and regression testing
battery. This package has some tests, but the coverage is limited.

Human maintainers of this package should be serious Markdown users,
and/or proactively remain appraised of such issues. For everyone else
there are team uploads.

Manphiz, you've already claimed you'll maintain more than 40 packages
for the trixie life cycle (ie: until 2028 or so), and this one takes the
kind of extra work that doesn't seem to interest or motivate you, so I'd
like you to drop yourself from Uploaders so that you can focus your
time--and your mentors and sponsors time--on work that specifically
interests or motivates you.

Regards,
Nicholas
