FTR we at Tor/Tails have decided to fund this work: https://bugs.debian.org/1088917 Once we have built test Tails images based on Trixie, we'll evaluate if ponytail solves actual problem we are facing with automated testing on Wayland. If it does, I anticipate we'll keep maintaining the package in Debian as long as we need it and can afford it. If it doesn't, while we'll keep maintaining it in Trixie during the lifetime of that release, I expected we will orphan the package for subsequent releases as we won't be using it.
