Package: mariadb-server Version: 1:11.4.3-1 Severity: normal Dear Maintainer,
First of all - the mariadb packages are really great, and the new passwordless root setup is awesome, thanks for all your work. One small thing though - If you use `mysqldump` from a version prior to passwordless root, and then restore that on a new installation, you lose the passwordless root account, and restore the debian-sys-maint and passworded-root accounts. While this is obvious and not really a bug, it seems like a common situation that can cause lots of confusion (took me a while to figure out what was going on) and it would be really great if the README.Debian.gz could document how to properly restore the correct settings (maybe even a simple script that could be run). Thanks! *** Reporter, please consider answering these questions, where appropriate *** * What led up to the situation? * What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or ineffective)? * What was the outcome of this action? * What outcome did you expect instead? *** End of the template - remove these template lines *** -- System Information: Debian Release: trixie/sid APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable'), (1, 'experimental') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Foreign Architectures: i386 Kernel: Linux 6.10.12-amd64 (SMP w/12 CPU threads; PREEMPT) Locale: LANG=en_US.utf8, LC_CTYPE=en_US.utf8 (charmap=UTF-8), LANGUAGE not set Shell: /bin/sh linked to /usr/bin/dash Init: systemd (via /run/systemd/system) LSM: AppArmor: enabled Versions of packages mariadb-server depends on: ii adduser 3.137 ii debconf [debconf-2.0] 1.5.87 ii galera-4 26.4.20-1 ii gawk 1:5.2.1-2+b1 ii init-system-helpers 1.67 ii iproute2 6.11.0-1 ii libc6 2.40-3 ii libdbi-perl 1.645-1+b1 ii libpam0g 1.5.3-7+b1 ii libssl3t64 3.3.2-2 ii libstdc++6 14.2.0-8 ii lsof 4.95.0-1.1 ii mariadb-client 1:11.4.3-1 ii mariadb-common 1:11.4.3-1 ii mariadb-server-core 1:11.4.3-1 ii passwd 1:4.16.0-4 ii perl 5.40.0-7 ii procps 2:4.0.4-6 ii psmisc 23.7-1 ii rsync 3.3.0-1 ii socat 1.8.0.1-2 ii zlib1g 1:1.3.dfsg+really1.3.1-1+b1 Versions of packages mariadb-server recommends: ii libhtml-template-perl 2.97-2 ii mariadb-plugin-provider-bzip2 1:11.4.3-1 ii mariadb-plugin-provider-lz4 1:11.4.3-1 ii mariadb-plugin-provider-lzma 1:11.4.3-1 ii mariadb-plugin-provider-lzo 1:11.4.3-1 ii mariadb-plugin-provider-snappy 1:11.4.3-1 ii pv 1.9.0-1 Versions of packages mariadb-server suggests: ii bsd-mailx [mailx] 8.1.2-0.20220412cvs-1 pn mariadb-test <none> pn netcat-openbsd <none> -- debconf information: mariadb-server/nis_warning: mariadb-server/postrm_remove_databases: false mariadb-server/old_data_directory_saved:
