The weirdness of the orig.tar.gz may be seen without using lintian: tar ztvf xarclock_1.0.orig.tar.gz [...] tar: A lone zero block at 100 Since this does not prevent the package from being built from the source, the usual thing here is to do nothing and postpone the fix to the next upstream version (if any).
