I second this request. If /dev/shm is not large enough you get weird errors, and not everyone will want /tmp to be a tmpfs, or to use /tmp at all I like the idea of unshare but it is a lot slower than schroot, anything that can speed it up is great. I dont know perl, but if there's some documentation of how to add code to enable this as an optional feature i'd be happy to learn enough to help out
