In the meantime, I have been told that there is a problem with the SIAM article class I am using, with a fix suggested at https://tex.stackexchange.com/questions/730628.
So for me it's ok that this bug be closed. Nonetheless, you may wish to import the latest hyperref fix from upstream asap. - Joachim
