It;'s silly and user unfriendly to do otherwise. Our database (in the old
format) is being collected and grown in production. Is not something we should
break.

For the record, I have checked and this is done by sac, i.e. by the tool called
writetmp.

Seems not the case anyway. I was thinking loudly about possible issues with
binary format changes on a living machine.
