Thanks Santiago for pulling up the changelog from tzdata. However,
this still does not make sense as the time zones CET, MET (and EET for
example) are still widely used and there are no replacements
advertised on Wikipedia on IANA or other sites I checked.
That's why I included a disclaimer in my answer :-)
What I meant: I'm no expert on tzdata issues, it just seemed that you
missed that the breakage was triggered by tzdata changes.
I suggest asking the tzdata maintainers, or maybe reading
this report first, where the effects of this tzdata change
are discussed:
