The versions of bup in at least stable and testing/unstable are affected
by a serious data loss bug that can cause backup data to be lost if the
"bup gc" command is utilized.

I believe the next point release on the 0.33.x branch will include fixes
for this issue. This bug should be fixed in stable due to the severity
(as well as the other bug fixes on the 0.33.x branch targeted at stable
release distros).
