Running the nvidia module under 2.6.16.9 kernel. The same problem that
occured with version 1.0.8178-1 is still happening with my card, GeForce
FX Go5200: when I run startx it starts to display the nvidia logo but
the image distorts and is illegible and X freezes at that point. Cannot
Ctrl-Alt-Backspace. Fortunately I can hit the power button and the
machine will gracefully power down.
My xorg.conf is pretty standard:
