Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

While staring at the ongoing perl 5.40 transition, we noted that
on rare occasions[1], the debian/test/gui autopkgtest script
could fail, presumably with the Xfvb server not having finished
to start up yet when the command to be tested attempts to spawn
a gui, resulting in:

1121s autopkgtest [02:03:09]: test gui: [-----------------------
1123s
1123s (auto-multiple-choice:8108): Gtk-WARNING **: 02:03:11.073: cannot open
display: :5
1123s autopkgtest [02:03:11]: test gui: -----------------------]
1123s gui FAIL non-zero exit status 1

gregoa suggests replacing the use of bare Xvfb by the xvfb-run
wrapper which, I agree, would make the handling of the virtual X
server easier to script. Other options could be to explicitly
sleep a few seconds or pool for the :5 to make sure it is
availble before starting the test, at your preference.

Have a nice day, :)
