* Package name : rot8 Version : 1.0.0 Upstream Contact: Esra Fernau * URL : https://github.com/efernau/rot8 * License : MIT Programming Lang: Rust Description : Automatic display rotation daemon for built-in accelerometer Automatically rotate modern Linux desktop screen and input devices based on accelerometer events. Handy for convertible touchscreen notebooks like HP Spectre x360, Lenovo IdeaPad Flex or Pine64 PineTab2. It can also be used by Linux phones like PinePhone (Pro). Compatible with X11 and Wayland compositors which support the wlr_output_management_v1 protocol (like sway and hyprland). The sway compositor itself doesn't respond to accelerometer events, so if you rotate the screen nothing happens. But when rot8 is running, it does respond to the accelerometer to change the screen layout based on the registered rotation. And then sway updates the screen accordingly. https://github.com/swaywm/sway/wiki#display-rotation (currently?) only lists rot8 for display rotation (based on accelerometer). I have used it to test an issue with sway, which resulted in this PR: https://github.com/swaywm/sway/pull/8394 It would be very welcome if this program was available in Debian so that users with tablets can better run sway on it.
