Hi Bastian,

The upstream of firmware-nonfree now includes firmware and config files
for RTL8723CS Bluetooth, added in
<https://gitlab.com/kernel-firmware/linux-firmware/-/commit/ed9c1349f8ebae720f3572ad3e74af59bfe345d7>.
As a result of this, firmware-realtek now has a file conflict with
firmware-realtek-rtl8723cs-bt (bug #1084791).

I would like to make firmware-realtek replace firmware-realtek-
rtl8723cs-bt, if you don't mind that and if it really works as a
replacement. However, they currently contain different versions of
these files.

In firmware-realtek they are:

rtl_bt/rtl8723cs_xx_config.bin: symlink to:
  rtl_bt/rtl8723bs_config.bin: size 64
rtl_bt/rtl8723cs_xx_fw.bin: size 19732

The commit above says they were extracted from a zip file from
realtek.com with version 1.0.245.3 (05/08/2017). I couldn't find an
exactly matching zip file, and what I did find appears to be a Windows
installer, so I can't confirm that.

In firmware-realtek-rtl8723cs-bt the files are:

rtl_bt/rtl8723cs_xx_config.bin: size 63
rtl_bt/rtl8723cs_xx_fw.bin: size 25004

I wanted to find the versions of these files, so I looked at the
upstream WHENCE file in your package. This claims the files come from
<https://github.com/armbian/firmware>. Although the config file in
that repository does match, it has yet another version of the firmware:

rtl_bt/rtl8723cs_xx_fw.bin: symlink to:
  rtlbt/rtl8723cs_xx_fw: size 24020

There is, however, a matching version in
<https://github.com/armbian/build> that was added by
<https://github.com/armbian/build/commit/077a7f8590c2799086bd8818115b10fd4d4423d5>.

But at this point the trail runs out: there is no explanation of which
Realtek or other manufacturer release these blobs came from. (This
just reinforces my distrust of Armbian.)

In any case, it seems that the files in firmware-realtek-rtl8723cs-bt
may be specific to the Pinebook while those in firmware-realtek are
generic.

Are you able to test whether the files in firmware-realtek work
properly on a Pinebook? If not, I suppose we will need to keep both
packages around with Conflicts, or use alternatives to manage these
filenames.

Ben.
