Package: libheif1 Version: 1.15.1-1 The current version of libheif in Debian Bookworm cannot decode photos shot with iOS 18. The reason is a new file format with features regarding ISO/CD 21496-1. Details are discussed in the upstream bug.

Recommendation: libheif 1.18.2 is already included in Trixie. libheif 1.18.2 builds smoothly on Debian Bookworm as well. It appears to work fine with Gnome (Image Viewer, Nautilus, etc.), imagemagick and GIMP. Maybe the maintainers can include an updated package to Bookworm backports? Regards Stephan
