The man page should mention if 1861 refers to A. That there are 1861 long lines in the file, or B. that the longest line is 1861 octets long. (Answer: B) I tried to report it upstream, but it turned out to be a big hassle. Also mention what the definition of a long line is, and if it can be modified from the command line.
