Hmm. Asides from this potentially being a GNOME issue, there’s a few things you can do on the mscore side. First, start it with the -D option and the actual dpi. If it then looks the same, you’ll know that GNOME sets the dpi correctly, otherwise you’ll have a knob to try. Second, there’s the -x option for GUI scaling, you could try something like -x 0.5 and see what happens. Third, if you go to E̲dit → P̲references… then in the General tab, option group Theme, there’s icon width/height, to be set in pixels. It might be that GNOME scales “just” those, nothing else; if so, halve the values there to match GNOME’s settings. Fourth, you could see whether there’s anything to configure in the system-wide (per-user, probably) Qt5 settings. I admit I have no idea about those. Unfortunately, autodetection of these things only seems to work in basic cases, and desktop environments have always been inventing their own knobs which then only work well in their own applications, so I’m afraid there isn’t anything we can do on the code side, except if you find that this is something fixed in mu͒3.7 Evolution (to soon be packaged as musescore-snapshot, but I’m not there yet), in which case we could backport the fix. I’d ask you to please try out the above things and report back, but, unless someone finds a commit to backport, I’ll handle this as user support request* and not as bugreport. *) Upstream notably doesn’t support 2.x/3.x any more, but the forums on musescore.org and third-party boards like https://www.notensatzforum.net/f2-MuseScore-Forum.html and https://www.musiker-board.de/forum/musescore.934/ still have active enough communities around this, and there’s likely someone there who also uses GNOME (I don’t personally use a desktop environment, just a window manager) and possibly has experience with it.
