Package: procps Version: 2:4.0.4-5 Severity: normal The w(1) man page contains:
/var/run/utmp information about who is currently logged on and in SEE ALSO: "utmp(5)". As of systemd 256.5-2, utmp support is disabled (/var/run/utmp no longer exists), while w is still working. So it seems that /var/run/utmp is no longer used. According to strace, wtmpdb isn't used either. So, how is the information obtained? -- System Information: Debian Release: trixie/sid APT prefers unstable-debug APT policy: (500, 'unstable-debug'), (500, 'stable-updates'), (500, 'stable-security'), (500, 'stable-debug'), (500, 'proposed-updates-debug'), (500, 'unstable'), (500, 'testing'), (500, 'stable'), (1, 'experimental') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Kernel: Linux 6.11.0-rc2+ (SMP w/16 CPU threads; PREEMPT) Locale: LANG=C.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=C.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8), LANGUAGE not set Shell: /bin/sh linked to /usr/bin/dash Init: systemd (via /run/systemd/system) LSM: AppArmor: enabled Versions of packages procps depends on: ii init-system-helpers 1.66 ii libc6 2.40-2 ii libncursesw6 6.5-2 ii libproc2-0 2:4.0.4-5 ii libsystemd0 256.5-2 ii libtinfo6 6.5-2 Versions of packages procps recommends: ii linux-sysctl-defaults 4.10.1 ii psmisc 23.7-1 procps suggests no packages. -- Configuration Files: /etc/sysctl.conf [Errno 2] No such file or directory: '/etc/sysctl.conf' -- no debconf information -- Vincent Lefèvre <vinc...@vinc17.net> - Web: <https://www.vinc17.net/> 100% accessible validated (X)HTML - Blog: <https://www.vinc17.net/blog/> Work: CR INRIA - computer arithmetic / AriC project (LIP, ENS-Lyon)
