I think the problem is here. > I worked around the problem by renaming /etc/X11/xkb/compat and > /usr/share/X11/xkb/compat. My keyboard now works perfectly, probably > because in the log I get: > > (WW) Couldn't load XKB keymap, falling back to pre-XKB keymap > > and to stdout/stderr: > > The XKEYBOARD keymap compiler (xkbcomp) reports: > > Error: Can't find file "complete" for compat include > > Exiting > > Abandoning compatibility map "default" > Errors from xkbcomp are not fatal to the X server If I move this directories to the home root, I get the same errors in logs/standard error but my keyboard don't work correctly : the Shift and Alt Gr does nothing. In fact it work like if put "foo" or "xfree" instead of "xorg" for XkbRules. > Hopefully this is a useful work around until the real source of the > problem can be found. Thank for your intention, I hope this help anybody else. BTW, since X11R6to7 upgrade I meet anothers errors, I don't know if there's a link with this problem : - the serrated roller of the mouse don't work correctly for copy/paste, as I reported higher ; - if I run a QT application (k3b, konqueror, kmail...) I get this error "k3b: symbol lookup error: /usr/lib/libqt-mt.so.3: undefined symbol: XkbSetPerClientControls" ; - if I run mplayer (don't work at all) or xine (only in fullscreen) I ge : "mplayer: symbol lookup error: mplayer: undefined symbol: DPMSQueryExtension" Sounds like things are pretty broken... And as I need soon my machine with xfree and my keyboard, I think I will purge and reinstall all packages about X. But it's not a good new :( Best regards, -- A. Le Provost - Ribaltchenko.
