This is a forwarding of #345914 ("xserver-xorg: Xorg 6.9.0 freeze with i810
module") to xserver-xorg-core (Xorg 7.0) from xserver-xorg (Xorg 6.9.0). I
first encountered the problem with Xorg 6.9.0, but it remains in Xorg 7.0.
This issue causes the X server to freeze on startup on my 865G chipset. As far
as I have been able to tell from various lists, this issue only affects the
integrated graphics in some types of Intel chipsets. Removing the call to
ValidatePci() as described in the bugs above resolves the problem.

The freedesktop.org bug 6750 has a patch for this issue that appears to have
been accepted for Xorg 7.1 and is not as extreme as completely removing
ValidatePci(). I have not yet personally tested that patch.
I can send an Xorg.0.log if necessary, but it is similar to those in the
freedesktop.org discussions.
