Yes, please, since this is making the hurd ports (both i386 and amd64)
completely non-installable...
When the current dependency was added, the conclusion was it would
solve all the cases because other implementations could add a
Provides.
But at the end of the day, the bootstrap script will need to be fixed and we
are discussing when and how long you would need this work around for.
I'm not sure: is the discussion happening somewhere?

thought you had already filed the bug/started the discussion to be honest.
