Package: python3-xopen Version: 1.7.0-2 Severity: normal Dear Maintainer,
When trying to run a local program that uses pkg_resources with an xopen dependency, that generated this error. pkg_resources.DistributionNotFound: The 'isal>=1.0.0; platform_python_implementation == "CPython" and (platform_machine == "x86_64" or platform_machine == "AMD64")' distribution was not found and is required by xopen Ideally the debian packaging for python3-xopen should probably have a python3-isal dependency, which doesn't appear to be in Debian currently. But baring that I got it to work by commenting out this line in /usr/lib/python3/dist-packages/xopen-1.7.0.dist-info/METADATA #Requires-Dist: isal (>=1.0.0) ; platform_python_implementation == "CPython" and (platform_machine == "x86_64" or platform_machine == "AMD64") Diane -- System Information: Debian Release: 12.6 APT prefers stable-updates APT policy: (500, 'stable-updates'), (500, 'stable-security'), (500, 'stable') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Kernel: Linux 6.1.0-21-amd64 (SMP w/8 CPU threads; PREEMPT) Kernel taint flags: TAINT_PROPRIETARY_MODULE, TAINT_OOT_MODULE, TAINT_UNSIGNED_MODULE Locale: LANG=en_US.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_US.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8), LANGUAGE=en_US:en Shell: /bin/sh linked to /usr/bin/dash Init: systemd (via /run/systemd/system) LSM: AppArmor: enabled Versions of packages python3-xopen depends on: ii pigz 2.6-1 ii python3 3.11.2-1+b1 ii python3-pkg-resources 66.1.1-1 ii python3-typing-extensions 4.4.0-1 python3-xopen recommends no packages. python3-xopen suggests no packages. -- no debconf information
