Hello Luca.

I'm not happy at all that you decided to reopen three different bugs for this,
including this one which was 12 years old (!).

Sure, the three bugs are "related" but only to a certain point, as they ask
for different things, and I consider them to be different bugs, so please
respect that.

Bug #1021663, based on its original subject, is the one that best matches
the things you mention now, so that will be where I will address your concerns.

(Please do *not* post the same message again in the other bug,
I will quote if/as needed).

Follows an explanation for bugs #675731 and #1008735.

This report (#675731) is a request for VERSION and VERSION_ID to be added
for testing and unstable. This is a wontfix because testing and unstable
do not have a version at all, they only have codenames. That has been the
case for at least 25 years, and the Release Managers have always supported
that view. This bug was closed for a good reason. Please do not reopen it again.

Bug #1008735 asks for VERSION, VERSION_ID and VERSION_CODENAME to be added.
Only VERSION_CODENAME may be added from those (see above to see why) and it
was done in version 12.3, so the bug was closed for a good reason. As noted
before, differentiating stable from testing/unstable is a thing and
differentiating testing from unstable is another different thing. Please
do not reopen this bug again.

Thanks.
