Googling that string mostly yielded posts with broadcom drivers.

I don't see why it should announce for any hardware IDs. If you have
networking of any form - and this is true even if you have no
networking hardware - you may or may not want net-tools.

A lot of people don't want it.  net-tools is a collection of all
sorts of legacy stuff.
