xdg-desktop-portal-gnome is required by GNOME as of gnome-session 46.0-3 (well, things would probably be broken before that if it wasn't installed, but now the Debian package enforces it). That version says to check the portals.conf manpage if you need to opt into different interfaces. https://manpages.debian.org/unstable/portals.conf I have closed this bug now, because from xdg-desktop-portal-gnome's perspective, this bug is fixed now.
