Package: ruby1.8 Version: 1.8.4-2 On alpha and arm, the testsuite for libsvn-ruby1.8 fails. See for example:
http://buildd.debian.org/fetch.php?&pkg=subversion&ver=1.3.2-1&arch=arm&stamp=1149299703&file=log&as=raw Troy Heber is debugging this on alpha and he reports that rebuilding ruby1.8 with gcc 4.1 fixes it. Also, downgrading to ruby1.8 1.8.4-1 fixed it, which I attribute to the fact that this too used a different version of gcc for the alpha build. (Nobody has checked whether any of this is also true on arm.) We had an identical failure on powerpc a few months ago which was solved by recompiling ruby1.8 with gcc 4.0.3 instead of 4.0.2. It seems ruby has some sort of behavior whose correctness depends on compiler and architecture details. I haven't tried to reduce the testcase down to anything simpler than "try building subversion 1.3.2-1". Though if anyone on the ruby side wishes to look at this in more detail, you may find my other notes helpful: http://lists.alioth.debian.org/pipermail/pkg-subversion-maintainers/2006-June/000688.html
