No need to wait! fastfetch has now been accepted into Debian unstable!
https://tracker.debian.org/pkg/fastfetch

@CarterLi <https://github.com/CarterLi> I reckon this issue can be closed now

This is indeed great, congrats to all involved! I now see that fastfetch is already in Testing.

However, please allow my to comment on the package Description. This is how it looks like a.t.m.:

Description: neofetch-like tool for fetching system information
Fastfetch is a neofetch-like tool for fetching system information and
displaying them in a pretty way. It is written mainly in C, with
 performance and customizability in mind.

I don't think it's good practice to refer to another program in the description section, in this case neofetch. The description assumes that the user knows what neofetch is, and given that it is abandoned by the author and likely  going away in the future, users will soon not know what neofetch is.

I think it would be better to refer to neofetch in the man page, I am not sure to what extent fastfetch was inspired by neofetch, but perhaps it would be proper to credit the author of neofetch in the man page, if this is the case. Neofetch has been a great program and used by many, and now we say goodbye to it and hello to fastfetch :-)

I have authored an alternative Description: text that you are free to use in any way you please, as you can see, I have avoided mentioning neofetch:

Description: Pretty display of detailed system information
Fastfetch is a highly configurable, cross-platform tool that fetches
system information and displays it on the terminal in a pretty way.
Fastfetch comes with over 60 modules and over 400 logos that can
optionally be displayed when configured by the user. Fastfetch is
mainly written in C, with performance and customizability in mind.

Cheers,

Morten
