ipmitools pre-removal script tries to stop ipmievd and fails if stopping fails; But in fact not every computer having ipmitools installed runs ipmievd (for example I need only ipmitool to control remote computers). IMHO removal script shouldn't stop ipmievd if it isn't running. ~$ sudo apt-get remove --purge ipmitool Reading package lists... Done Building dependency tree...
