I'm having this issue with Chromium. Whenever I close the last tab of a single profile, it causes the entire browser to hard crashed resulting in ALL open windows closing. When I re-open, I'm prompted to restore the sessions. This is 100% reproducible for me; every time I close the last window tied to a profile, the whole browser instantly crashes.
