Subject: man.1: table for "-7, --ascii"; (nroff) do not break line in the first column
The table was just changed from having the first column too narrow to being too wide. What is wrong with using: "1) use ".nf" before table, and ".fi" after it" The distance between columns (the column gutter) is then the default value of 3 ens (3n). Another possibility is to define the length of the first column in a register and add that to the format definition of the table. Or is the width of the first column wrongly calculated by "tbl"? Yes, when text blocks (T{...}T) are used, the calculation of the column width is different. So the simplest fix is to 1) remove the text block construct (is not needed for short lines) 2) remove the '.na' and '.ad' lines. I don't know how and why '.nf' affects the width of the first column when (short) text blocks are used. ('.nf' puts an input line on a single output line.)
