I fear this aspect currently breaks mmdebstrap's autopkgtests, so this is an rc bug somewhere. While it isn't technically rc for debianutils, I hope that the simplest way forward is to just upload debianutils. If you disagree with this assessment, we'll have to adapt mmdebstrap's autopkgtests until this bug is fixed, which also works, but is kinda meh. So I am tentatively raising it to rc severity for debianutils hoping that you agree and let you downgrade in case you disagree. Thanks for considering. I'm also happy to NMU debianutils if you're short on time and agree with me doing it. Helmut
