Hm, the build-depends of the original snort_2.3.3-6 package say:
libmysqlclient15-dev | libmysqlclient-dev
I only have -15-dev on my system so I compiled, installed and tested this
version: http://nerdbynature.de/bits/snort_libmysqlclient15off/
works-for-me...
