This is not a case of lost data, only of data no longer accessible through the CalDAV protocol: You can get to the data through direct file access, bypassing radicale altogether. Most likely the data was broken already, and what changed is that radicale has become less tolerant of such breakage. I seem to recall that this very issue has already been brought up upstream, perhaps even by you. If not, then please consider reporting it upstream, to discuss there if perhaps the situation can be better handled in the future.
