Package: raspberrypi-kernel Version: 1:1.20230106-1
Severity: important Dear Maintainer, *** Reporter, please consider answering these questions, where appropriate *** * What led up to the situation? I bought a usb a to c cable from amazon p/n B09FYVD6B5 I plugged usb cable from both raspberry pi 2b and 4 between pi and portenta lite https://store-usa.arduino.cc/collections/portenta-family/products/portenta-h 7-lite * What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or ineffective)? tried 2 different cables (ineffective) powered portenta with +5V to the Vin pins on J1 (ineffective) upgraded my pi2b to latest install (ineffective) tried it on my pi4 (this computer ineffective) plugged same cable to my windows 11 computer and the portenta showed up in the device manager as com10 with device id USB\VID_2341&PID_025B&REV_0101&MI_00 (this worked but not what I want to do) * What was the outcome of this action? dmesg said usb 1-1-port1: Cannot enable. Maybe the USB cable is bad? usb 1-1-port1: attempt power cycle usb 1-1-port1: unable to enumerate USB device * What outcome did you expect instead? I expected the usb port to identify the device and connect it to a ttyUSB0 or ttyACM0 or some other serial port -- System Information: Debian Release: 11.6 APT prefers oldstable-updates APT policy: (500, 'oldstable-updates'), (500, 'oldstable-security'), (500, 'oldstable') Architecture: arm64 (aarch64) Foreign Architectures: armhf Kernel: Linux 5.15.84-v8+ (SMP w/4 CPU threads; PREEMPT) Kernel taint flags: TAINT_CRAP Locale: LANG=en_US.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_US.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) (ignored: LC_ALL set to en_US.UTF-8), LANGUAGE=en_US.UTF-8 Shell: /bin/sh linked to /usr/bin/dash Init: systemd (via /run/systemd/system) -- no debconf information
