To debug this further, I'm going to need some sort of test setup. You can see my test package at https://salsa.debian.org/csmall/test-dh-exec Obviously its a simple package but it does have a file that is created in the build phase and renamed in the install phase. Could you have a look at it and see what differences there could be? I'm not seeing any errors with that example. - Craig
