Yes, this libmysqlclient-dev comes from Debian, it was there in mysql-dfsg
version 4.0.22-2, see the binary packages produced by mysql-dfsg:

http://packages.qa.debian.org/m/mysql-dfsg/news/20041103T011713Z.html

It seems to have been removed with 4.0.22-3 but it has never been removed
from my system for unknown reasons.

So, it seems to be a leftover from Sarge (when sarge was 'unstable') and has
been there in my system ever since (it has always run unstable). Sarge has
4.0.24-10 so it did not have this 'libmysqlclient-dev' package. I'm not sure
if this Conflicts: should have been added with previous releases but, since
libmysqlclient15-dev Conflicts: with all previous libmysqlclientXX-dev
versions (including libmysqlclient10-dev which was introduced in woody),
maybe it would make sense to Conflict: on libmysqlclient-dev also for those
systems that have that leftover still in them (my case and maybe some other
developers running unstable since then).

In any case, your call, feel free to close this bug if you don't feel like
adding a new Conflicts: there :-)
