* What led up to the situation?
I was testing out Debian Junior programming applications.
* What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or
ineffective)?
I started squeak from terminal.
* What was the outcome of this action?
I saw a small window with the title "There are seve... queak images"
which had the instructions "Select items from the list below." and
"Choose one:". But there were no items in the list to choose. I
have taken a screenshot which I hope works for you:

* What outcome did you expect instead?
I expected the Squeak VM to show up with graphics.
I noticed on the terminal, after starting squeak, it said:
printf too old, using shell-quote (CPAN String::ShellQuote) instead
found gettext in /bin
xargs: shell-quote: No such file or directory
So I installed libstring-shellquote-perl and retried the squeak command.
It worked fine, with the graphics of the text and the clouds and the
little red car showing up. Maybe you should have that as a dependency?
I wasn't able to test the latest version, but I was thinking that if the
Debian stable version doesn't work, it should be fixed.
