There's no soffice executable, that's why I asked. soffice is a sh script
calling soffice.bin. Which is similar to ooffice as perl script calling
soffice. (Or, if we change to ooqstart-invocation completely in the future,
just a sh script calling ooqstart (C-Program) calling soffice)

If only the link to /usr/lib/openoffice/program/soffice makes sense. DAMN.

Because a soffice binary might encourage normal users to run that instead of
the oo*.

Do you know exactly under which circumnstances it works and with which not?

Rene
